Musikmesse 2009

DAY 1

Day One of Musikmesse 2009 saw BUGERA shattering eardrums, turning heads and changing minds. We're absolutely stoked to finally unveil our new line of vintage-style combo amps, the V5, V22, V55 and V55HD. Plus, the European crowd finally gets an earful of our new BUGERA Bass line and the wicked new 1990 and 1960 heads we unveiled at NAMM 2009 in Anaheim, California last January. Of course, it's tough to overlook World Bodypainting Festival Finalist Claus Dirsherl's BUGERA-centric handywork. Yeah, we didn't realize we were such huge fans of bodypainting, either. Check back in tomorrow for more BUGERA goodness.

DAY 2

...And the BUGERA train keeps a-rollin‚ here at Musikmesse 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany. Some truly sick pickers have dropped by over the last couple of days to put our full line to the test, and it's safe to say these amps aren't letting anyone down. German riffmeister Klaus Vansheidt belted out some blues-flavored metal via the 333XL. Our resident guitar expert Joe Delaney pushed the new V55HD vintage-style amp head to its absolute limits with a saturated country blues workout. Then, just to prove there are no slouches in the Vintage BUGERA family, he used the 5-watt V5 combo to drive a 412H-BK 4x12 cabinet! As the old saying goes, give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day; give a V5 a 412 cabinet and it'll chew your head off. After the smoke cleared and the shred-heads took a break, I plugged into the V55HD to run through some clean, reverb-heavy oldies. Achtung, surf geeks: you might wanna check these out soon!

DAY 3

Musicians, music retailers, the press—and whomever else managed to score a pass to Musikmesse 2009—are loving what they see at the BUGERA booth. At a time when it seems anybody with a garage and a soldering iron are trying their hand at valve amp design and manufacturing, BUGERA is standing out among the pack because of their excellent palette of tones for any musical style, cool looks and unbelievable affordability.

Today we held an official press conference at the booth that drew a bevy of journalists eager to check out the no-nonsense amps with the funny name. The small soundproof room we use to blast these amps without violating any decibel restrictions overflowed with curious onlookers as Joe Delaney took them on a whirlwind tour of these monsters' capabilities.

A couple of high-profile guitarists stopped in and persuaded some of our very own BUGERA personnel to strap on their axes and join them in a jam. Courting the press, demo'ing killer gear and making music with the stars…it's all part of a day's work in the world of BUGERA.

DAY 4

On the final day of Musikmesse 2009, the event opened its doors to the public. So, many people who might have only seen and heard BUGERA amps online, on recordings, or in magazine profiles finally get to behold these amps in person. It's not easy putting on a show like this, but everyone at BUGERA was stoked to have created such a strong showing for these all-valve beauties. The relaxed atmosphere of the event's final day was the perfect backdrop for pop trio small is beautiful to drop into our demo room for an impromptu jam with hard-edged axeman Klaus Vansheidt. It just goes to show you that all bets are truly off on Day 4.

Well, just 365 days left until Musikmesse 2010. More trade shows and surprises are undoubtedly in store between now and then, so be sure to check back here often for the latest on BUGERA. Better yet, check out one of these wicked amps at your favorite music store. If they don't have 'em yet, ask for 'em!

Review: Bugera BTX36000 ‘The Nuke’ Holy bottom end, Batman! Is this a red hot bass rig or rackmountable seismic anomaly? No matter where we set the tone controls, the amp remained responsive and useful. BXT36000 is indeed built like a nuke but the tone has a certain finesse that surprised us, given all the power on tap. There are plenty of features(like independent overload protection!) to make this great value even at twice the sticker price and, to be honest, we don’t know how Behringer can offer such value. But be warned, this thing is loud – so get ready to rumble.

The Bugera BVP5500 has loads of features packed into a fairly small package. The valve feature works fine but even rolling it back offered really toneful sounds. We still can’t believe it’s only 800 bills, so go and get one now before they spot the typo in their price.
